Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt divided
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper divided
  • 1 ½ cups buttermilk
  • 2-2 ½ pounds chicken thighs and drumsticks
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon mustard powder
  • Olive oil cooking spray

Instructions

  • In a bowl, add 1 teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon pepper, and buttermilk and whisk together. Add chicken to the bowl, combine well, and marinate in the refrigerator for 1 hour or overnight.
  • In a second bowl, add remaining salt and pepper, flour, garlic powder, onion powder, and mustard powder and mix well.
  • Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees F.
  • Remove chicken from marinade, coat with flour mixture, spray with oil spray and place in air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 20-22 minutes depending on your preferred level of golden brown and crispiness.
