Have you tried Kombucha? It’s a fermented, fizzy tea beverage full of probiotics that are vital for gut health. I used one of my favorite Kombucha brands, Revive, and merged it with a basic mojito to create a refreshing adult beverage. I like the Cucumber Mint – super delicious – but try different flavors and see which you like best.

How to make Kombucha Mojito

First, lightly muddle the mint in the bottom of a shaker.  Add in the simple syrup, lime juice, and rum, and fill with ice.  Shake the mixture well and pour (unstrained) into a glass.  Top with the kombucha and garnish with a sprig of mint.  Serve the Kombucha Mojito to your guests and prepare for them to be impressed!

What if I Don’t Have All These Bartending Tools?

You don’t need all the fancy tools to make a delicious drink!  There are other common household kitchen tools you could use instead of a muddler or a shaker for this recipe.

The first tool we use is a Shaker.  If you don’t have a shaker you can easily use a mason jar, old pasta sauce jar, or sports bottle.  For the mason jar or sports bottle, simply pour all of our ingredients into it, seal it tight, and shake the ingredients together.  If you want to use a pasta sauce jar, first clean it out well then fill and shake!

The second tool we use is a Muddler.  When you are muddling, you are really just pressing on the mint to press out some of its essential oils.  Don’t have a muddler?  Don’t worry!  You can also use a thick wooden spoon to smush your mint in the bottom of your glass.

Kombuch…..what??

That’s right, Kombucha! Kombucha is fermented tea and has been consumed for thousands of years.  Since it has been fermented, it is a great source off probiotics that provide your gut with healthy bacteria.

Kombucha is packed full of antioxidants that fight off free radicals in the body.  Free radicals cause damage to the cells, so it is important to include antioxidants in your diet.

Kombucha is low in sugar which makes it the perfect substitute for soda or other sugar-sweetened beverages!  It is bubbly, fizzy, and delicious.  Give it a try in my Kombucha Mojito!

Other ways to use Kombucha in cocktails.

My Kombucha Mojito recipe is very versatile.  You can swap out some of the ingredients and make a completely different drink.  If you want to simply make your Kombucha Mojito a little less sweet, feel free to omit the simple syrup and increase the kombucha amount.

You could make a Kombucha Moscow mule with vodka, ginger kombucha, and lime juice.  Or how about a Strawberry Kombucha Mojito?  Simply muddle some strawberries with your mint! Tell me your favorite ways to use Kombucha in cocktails below!
