Apple Cider Cocktail
If you know me, you know I love to indulge in a cocktail (aka adult beverage) every once in a while. My apple cider cocktail is one I have made recently that was too good not to share; It’s my take on an old-fashioned. The apple cider adds sweetness and warmth, while the whiskey adds that caramel-y note. A dash of Angostura bitters makes the drink smooth and more flavorful. Just like every other food group, alcohol can be included in your diet in moderation.
How to Prepare the Apple Cider Cocktail
Like all of my cocktail recipes, this one is super easy to make. All you have to do is add the apple cider, whiskey and bitters to a low ball glass, and stir. Then add ice. For some extra pizzazz, garnish the cocktail with apple slices and a cinnamon stick.
If you plan to make this cocktail for more than one person, just double, triple or quadruple the ingredients depending on the amount of people joining you.
Apple Cider Cocktail Pairings
This apple cider cocktail pairs well with many foods. In fact, it can be a dinner or dessert drink! I enjoy pairing my whiskey with pork tenderloin. Try my hoisin pork tenderloin or mustard pork tenderloin. As for dessert options, pair this apple cider cocktail with fresh fruit, such as apples, pears or others in the pome family, or a cheese plate. Cheers!
What is Apple Cider?
Apple cider is a juice made from apples. It differs from apple juice as it is not filtered. It can be made in two ways – either through boiling apples and sugar together, or straining the liquid from pureed apples. The former process is easier to do if you want to make it at home. Whichever way it’s made, apple cider is delicious!
Other ways to use Apple Cider
Aside from adding it to cocktails, I love to make apple cider granita in the warmer months. To do this, place the apple cider in the freezer. After every hour, take a fork and scrape the ice to break it up. After a few hours, you have the perfect, refreshing dessert!
