How to make my Espresso Cocktails with Bourbon

Do you love bourbon cocktails? I sure do! Combine espresso, bourbon, maple syrup, and bitters in a shaker and fill with ice.  Stir with a bar spoon for about 30 seconds and strain into a rocks glass filled with ice.  Twist an orange peel over the drink and rub it around the rim of the glass for a nice subtle orange flavor.  Garnish with the orange peel in the side! Impress your guests at your next event with some Espresso Cocktails with Bourbon!

Ingredients in Espresso Cocktails with Bourbon

Espresso:

Espresso is made by taking a small amount of almost boiling water and forcing it under pressure through finely-ground coffee beans.  This results in a thick, concentrated coffee.  The caffeine in espresso gives you a good boost of energy, and coffee also provides you with antioxidants that help fight free-radicals in your body.

Bourbon:

Have you ever wondered what Bourbon is?  Bourbon is made with a dry grain mixture of at least 51% corn, mixed with other grains like rye. wheat, and malted barley.  The grain mixture is milled into a fine mixture, combined with water, and cooked under pressure.  The cooked mixture then has yeast added to it, allowing it to ferment into what is called a “wash.”  The wash is then distilled, resulting in a clear liquid with about 65-80% alcohol.  That mixture is poured into brand new charred white oak barrels and aged, which is where the bourbon gets its dark color and wood-like flavor.  Delicious in my Espresso Cocktails with Bourbon!

Maple Syrup:

I love using Maple Syrup in my Espresso Cocktails with Bourbon to add a touch of sweetness.  Maple Syrup is a natural sweetener that is made from a maple tree’s sap.  It provides manganese, riboflavin, calcium, thiamin, potassium, and copper!  Check out my Maple Bourbon Cocktail to learn more about Maple Syrup and how it is made!

Orange Peel:

I like to garnish my Espresso Cocktails with Bourbon with an orange peel, and I sometimes rub it around the rim of the glass.  This adds a slightly sweet orange flavor to the rim of the cocktail, which is delicious when combined with the espresso cocktail inside!
